The bright lights of Suncorp Stadium are a long way from the fields of the Blackwater Crushers, where Ben Hunt first laced up a pair of football boots.

Born in Rockhampton and raised in Dingo, Hunt’s talent was clear from an early age, earning selection in the Australian Schoolboys team in 2007.

Nicknamed ‘Dozer’, he claimed Player of the Year honours in the inaugural National Youth Under-20s competition as an 18-year-old, before making his debut for the Broncos in 2009.

After nine seasons with Brisbane — and coming agonisingly close to premiership glory — Hunt spent seven years with the Dragons before returning to his home Club in 2025.

With Australian Kangaroos and Queensland State of Origin jerseys already hanging in his locker, an NRL Premiership was just one milestone left to conquer.

Playing at hooker and halfback throughout the season, Hunt scored two tries, had nine try assists and became just the sixth player in history to reach 350 NRL games.

After 17 seasons in the top grade, Hunt finally claimed his long-awaited premiership in 2025.
